Client: Sundial Brands
As a core content component of the Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture brand activation with Sephora, I conceptualized, directed, and produced Modern Day Madams, a conversation film featuring twenty unscripted interviews with contemporary entrepreneurial women whose lives echoed Walker’s audacity. Previous relaunches had left her legacy in historical amber; these conversations reframed it as living blueprint, bridging her defiance with modern entrepreneurial dreams.
Audiences connected not through education but through recognition — encountering their own possibility mirrored in the women on screen. The film invoked Madam's spirit, awakened ancestral courage, and helped contemporary women recognize the audacity, resilience, and defiance already living in their DNA, passed down through generations of women like Walker.
It transformed legacy into embodied inheritance, proving that the most powerful brand loyalty is sparked not by aspiration, but when we see ourselves alive in the archetype.
